East Japan (Japanese: 東日本, eastern hepburn :Toh Nippon), officially known as the People's Democratic States Of Japan(PDSJ; 日本国民民主国家, eastern hepburn :Nippon Kokumin Minshu Kokka ), was a country in East Asia from its formation on 5 July 1953 until its reunification with West Japan on 10 October 1993 after Korean War reunification with North Korea And South Korea. Until 1989, it was generally viewed as a communist state and described itself as a socialist "workers' and peasants' state".[5] The economy of the country was centrally planned and state-owned.[6] Although the PDSJ had to pay substantial war reparations to the Soviets, North Korean and Chinese, it became the most successful economy in the Eastern Bloc.
